Default Bike Dies...Suggestions?

When riding my '94 F2 would die when idling. I could jump it and keep it running by keeping the RPM's up for a little while longer...until the battery was totally dead. I recharged the battery and it did the same thing again. I have not replaced anything. I have read in other posts that it may be the battery but I am leaning away from the battery. It seems more likely to me that the bike is not generating power back to the battery and when running it is using the battery power to fire the plugs. I have disconnected the battery while the bike is running and it dies automatically, but I am not sure if this is indicative of anything. I wish it were the battery or at least the regulator so the repair would be reasonably priced (and not more than the bike is worth!). Has anyone else had this problem?

It sounds like that stator or regulator have gone bad. They are both cheap and easy fixes if you get the parts on ebay. If you don't know how to test for them using a voltimeter get both. A bad regulator can eat a good stator.
