Hey guys, if your good w/ sprockets also... please look at my other post


Ive been thinking, and Ive come to the conclusion that it would be a hell of a lot easier to do stuff to my bike (upcoming change of sprockets, for example) with some bike stands. Id like to get a front and rear stand both, just because I think thats the way to do it (if not... holler at me, I, like many others, LOVE to save money )


Ive found 2 different stands that i been looking at... the first is an actual pair (front and rear) from heindle engineering.

Front Forklift, Rear Roller (144.95+)

The second set is from Lockhart Phillips... I'd have to buy seperate but they would come close to the same price as a pair.

also, if you scroll down on that site, you can find a "3 piece swingarm stands" from Lockhart Phillips also. They look decent, and are 79.95 apiece........ [:-]

Now, my question to you is... Should I go with one brand all the way out.... or mix/match... does it matter.... are there cheaper stands out there that still get the job done?


Im sorry Im re-posting about stands, as I know another member on here also posted, but all that was said is "pitbull is good... " and some other brand is good.

I opted for the spool rear stand. Not only is it more stable, but the swingarm spools double as sliders. I got the Vortex stand and love it. It costs a little more, but is worth every penny in security and easy of use.

 

I had a Lockhart front stand and it was not that great..alot of bikes nowadays have 1 forkleg that is longer than the other ( Yamaha is for sure guilty of this) and the Lockhart stand has to pins that go in the holes in the bottom of the fork tubes, the problem is that with the longer leg it makes the bike sit at an angle, or fall over.
I use the PITBULL front stand which does not care if the legs are longer since they use a pivot and two cushions to hold the leg up

 

I second the Pitbull stands. Most everyone I know uses them and they are great.

 

I just ordered a set of stands from Handy Industries. Front and rear with either spool or pad.....$114.00 delivered.....

Quality seems to be pretty good

 

For $114 don't expect too much. Most rear stands alone don't go for that, but let us know what you think.

 

I just a set of the Handy industries stands too...They may not be the best, but for the price, they'll serve their purposse...I'll let you know if they collapse or fall apart.

the handy rear stand is not to bad for the price but be very very carful with the junk front stand it will do the job just be carful picking up the bike.

 

I am still stickin to the PITBULL...I have seen all sorts of stands and it will take ALOT to change my opinion on this subject!! They are by far one of the best investments I have ever made..and 929 owners...you can get a shim for the rear stand so it will sit flat ( you know what I mean if you have a 929 and try to put it on a rear stand) and the tops are interchangeable so you can back and forth between spooled or standard. I just got the Supersport tops for the rear stand that has both set ups on it!! I love it
