Pit Bull is about as sturdy as it gets...$140 for front $160 for the rear is the standard pricing, but you might be able to find it cheaper online. also you need spools for the rear (cost ya another $15).

I have vortex stands, they have worked great for me, and are a bit cheaper than the Pitbulls. Cost around $200 for the pair, the rear can also be used without spools. Not sure where the best place to buy em is though, try a good ol yahoo search.

The front has padded groves that pick up on the front forks. I have T-Rex stands. Got them off ebay. Really satisified with them. I don't knowhow I did anything before I had them.

After doing a little research it appears that the front either uses a "forklift" type or the other type where it uses a pin and lifts from under your steering post.

I am looking for something to keep my bike off the cement in the winter months. So would the forklift be stable enough to support my bike over long periods of time or should i consider the steering post method?

I'm pretty sure i'll be using the spools on the back. Pit Bull and Vortex are both nice probably use the Pit Bull if I can find a decent buy off ebay.

About the only thing the front stand (like mine), that grabs the bottom of the fork cant do, is if you need to work on your forks at all. I have also heard the ones that grab the bottom of the triple tree, some models you have to take the nose off. I dont know if thats our bikes or not, but it was on my gix when i bought the stands some years ago.
