bike rattling at 5000rpms??

Default bike rattling at 5000rpms??

hey guys i have a brand new 06 cbr600rr with 150 miles and around 5000-5500 rpms it starts making a rattling sound but goes away at 6000. a friend of mine said it was the valves. is this normal for a new bike?

I've heard that there's a plastic tab or something under the gas tank cover that can rub and vibrate like what you're talking about. I think it's on the cover and rubs against the actual tank. I have no experience with that bike, but that'd be the first thing I'd look at.

Sounds like it will be what dwhite said, or if its ticking, in could be your cct. If its a squeeking, rattling noise, its the gas tank plastic on your acutal tank, most likely.

I had the same noise. I took the tank cover off and it was rubbing against the ECM in front of the tank. I used single sided foam tape used to mount toppers onto trucks. You can test if this is the problem by pressing in front of the gas fill with your hand while it is making the noise.
