Default Bike not running so hot.

I am new here and am hoping that someone may be able to lend some knowledge. My bike is backfiring pretty bad and I am wondering what it might be? I will explain my situation: I got a 1997 CBR900RR and put a D&D pipe and a Uni filter in it and am thinking these have something to do with it. Would someone please let me know. Thanks alot

with that combo, you need to rejet the carbs.
you'd be ok getting by with fuel injection, but not with carbs.

Tahoe, Thanks for your input. I had a feeling that is what needed to be done, but the paper I got with the pipe stated that the pipe was manufactured not to have to jet the bike. That probably was if that was the only thing I had on the bike was a bolt-on can and not the air filter. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah he's right. With the filter and pipe combo you are running leaner then the bike likes to. The carbs will need to be jeted richer since the added air flow is leaning it out.
