Default Beware JT chains

Less than 1000 miles, perfectly cleaned and adjusted and boom, snapped on me this morn in rush hour traffic

Took off engine casing lip, where sprocket cover bolts to (luckily didn't punch through to internals), smashed rear hugger, took rear chain guard out and left lovely big lash indentations on the tail underside.

Had to be a defective chain, not fooking amused!

PITA, not having much luck with her at the min mate. Still, lucky it was in a gap in the traffic flow or I'd have been coming to a standstill in the fast lane of a 4 lane stretch in the morning Dublin rush hour

Tough luck mate. Or may be not so much as could have happened in the middle of a lane change manoeuvre on a motorway. I have JT sprockets as well. One more thing to worry?
You can write to these guys you know. Send them the photos of the snapped chain and see what they say. Then decide if you have time and patience to screw them

Where did it break, Normal link or master? What size chain was it and what type of master link, clip or rivet? I know you said it was properly adjusted, but may it have been too tight?

108 520 rivet.

Not too tight and within manual spec.

Couldn't retrieve it, rush hour on motorway.

Beginning to think it was a freak thing, like some sort of debris, however unlikely that is.

Yeah, I have 15/45 JTs, if anything it's an excuse to put them back to standard now, got sick of it screaming it's ***** off all the time and drinking petrol. The front sprocket had a few shards of metal sliced off two of the teeth but that could have been the chain that did that. Broken off bits of the casing lip had severe scoring on the chain side.
