Default Battery Wire Detached by Mistake

I have a 2005 CBR600rr and a friend replaced the battery and pulled out a black and red wire with a connector attached to it. The problem is, we cannot find the wires with the connector it attaches to. Black wire attaches to the negative post on the battery and red to the positive. Any help would be appreciated. Its killing me because my odometer is not working and I think this has to be the problem.

i have an 03 600rr and i found the same wire and it was not attached to anything, have you tried disconnecting the battery wires again? maybe it has to reset? check the fuses?

If you pull the battery, the trip meter will reset to 0 (and clock drops out). Are you sure the regular odometer is not working?

I have a battery tender connector on my battery; connects to the battery, leaving a connector just hanging free that the charger plugs into.
