Went on a ride Mon witha fewbuddies.One of them had an01 gsxr thatdecided it wanted to act up once we got close to our destination. It was runnin fine for the first part of the ride, and then we pulled over to stretch and his bike would not start again. Turn the key on and nothing came on period. Headlights, display guages, nothing! So we jumped it and like it usually does, it started right up. Well, that was until the jumper cables were removed! It would die as soon as either one of the jumper cables were taken off.So my guess was the stator. I have recarged the battery and it is just fine. I wanted to get some opinions before he started ordering parts.

 

If the battery will hold a charge, then start with the cheap parts. I would try a recifier first.
