1st you want to know that your battery was fully charged from the get go. To do thIis you need to load test it. If you dont have a voltmeter, take it to Autozone or similar and they'll usually do it for free. It should read more than 10.5 volts with a lod put on it. If not, you have a weak or bad battery. Put it on a trickle charger overnight(8-12 hrs) and recheck it. If the readings are still low, you have a bad batery. Do this and let me know what happens, and from there I'll help you further if you need.

It is best to get an updated regulator. I got a performace regulator with the metal backing and front. this prevents any type of over
heating and also allows more HP.
Here is what I brought 120. Shipped:

Check to see if its your charging system. While the bike is running hook up a voltmeter to the battery. The voltmeter should read around 13 to 14 volts. If the voltage is under that, then its more than likely you charging system. Try this and let me know what happens.
I replaced the plug on my 95. The regulator was ok but the wires were loose and shorting out. I got a wire harness on ebay for 6 bucks Cut the old plug off and put on the new one and made sure the wires were nice and tight
