battery keeps going dead
i have a 2004 cbr 1000rr not under warranty and i can charge up the battery and ride the bike for a few hours and the battery goes dead on me now i know it's not a bad battery... so does anyone know how to test the voltage rectifier/regulator or any way to test the stator?what should the volts be going to the rectifier from the stator on the 3 wires

RE: battery keeps going dead
Save yourself some pain, it's the regulator, will take em 5 minutes at the bike shop to find that out. Unless you know wot your doing with Voltmeter, you need to be able to interpret the readings, which aren't always consistant. Good Auto electrcian will though.

I just did the same thing about 2 weeks ago. i think the voltage from the stator is between 17 -20 volts at idle. I think AC. Doesn't the regulator/rectifier convert to DC?
I found checking the reg/rec. was confusing, so my way was if i was getting 17-20 volts from the stator and with the bike at 5000 rpm's its charging at 14.5v then the rec/reg
is fine. I don't know if that is correct but thats all i did. I also used the manual, then i found this article. Hope it helps you. Its for ducati's but i think it still pertains to us.
