Default battery acid removal

Does anyone know how to get rid of battery acid off of alloys and cans? I just got a new battery from Honda and it's leaking everywhere (just noticed it and it looks like it's been doing it a while![:@]) I'm asking just in case honda refuse to fix it all for me...they better do though!

Baking soda and water will remove the acid, but if it's permenatly etched it will need refinished.
