Default Is it the battery?

So my battery died a few weeks ago. Bought a charger, hooked it up yesterday and charged it overnight. Checked it today, the battery charger was green so battery was charged. Unhooked the charger, key in, pulled choke out, tried to start, no go! There's power there, but the bike just won't start. It wants to, I know it does, but it just won't turn over.
Would that just be because it's been sitting for a few weeks with no juice, or could it be something else? It was running fine when I put it in the garage.

It's a 96 CBR900RR if that matters.

Thanks for the help ahead of time!!

Sounds like the battery has seen better days man. Not getting enough amps out of it.

How old is it ? and is it a wet battery ? (lead acid)

Yeah, you're probably right. Not sure about the battery, I bought the bike used back in August. I'll start shopping for a new battery in the meantime. Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with one of my gate motors recently - it said it was taking a charge, read 13.5V etc etc but wouldn't open the gates. Battery was tired, and wouldn't put out enough grunt to do the job. I've had the same on my 1000F at one time.
Replace the battery, as a first step, as Sprock says, then check your charging system to be sure that all is as it should be.......

Well Kilgoretrout put me onto Motobatt Gel Batteries last year as I had the
same problem from bad R/R boiling up a wet battery ....basically cooked the
battery to a crisp.

So I diagnosed the bad R/R replaced it then added the spanking new Motobatt (Ebay) and never had to think about it again.

Gel Batteries are better , they don't spill on a tip over and last generally 40%
longer than a wet battery,
