Bad stator?
so yesterday i was was doing some work on my 98 f3 and noticed this.

one of the wires coming from the stator melted and broke at that connector. But the bike still runs and the battery gets charged like it should. i have already replaced the r/r with one from a gixxer.
would the stator going back cause this?
i have measured voltage coming from the stator, each wire is about 6vac at idle and about 8vac at 5k rpm.
also, those 3 wires have continuity to each other, are they suppose to have continuity between them??
or could the connection at that terminal have been bad and caused it to heat up/melt??
im really at a stand still now, dont want to buy a new stator just to find out that something else was the problem.

They are supposed to have continuity to each other, but not to ground. Fix the wires and get back to riding.... Good thing you caught that before something got messed up.
