Default axle grease

What brand or generic type of grease should I use for my axle? What all should I lube when putting my wheels back on?

I use mobil hi temp grease (the greenish stuff). You're not really lubricating anything with it because everything turns on bearings (and they should be of the sealed variety) so practically any grease would do. You just want something to repel water and keep it from rusting.

It's worth pointing out these rarely have enough grease on and often seize in place ... I once had a terrible time knocking mine through and made sure it was well greased after that ... it may be worth removing these to grease them as a matter of course.

Multi-purpose Hi-temp lithium grease, NLGI #2 (or equivalent rating).

I just use the mobil 1 synthetic grease thats red. same stuff I lube the chassis of my truck with. Just a thin coating so it wont rust and glides back together.
