do i need to grease the axle bolt?
I wasn't sure if i needed to or not. I thought there were bearings inside the rim, but as stated previously mechanics is not my strong part. Just figured i would ask just to make sure

Don't need to grease the axle bolt, that might actually be a bad idea, but you should grease the axle itself.
Just FYI torque for the axle bolt is 43 lb ft, and the pinch bolts is 16 lb ft.
correct, i was thinking of the axle as the "axle bolt". since the proper term for the other side is"nut".
regardless, the shaft that actually goes thru the rim does need a light coat of grease.

I use axle grease... for the rear, you need "rear" axle grease.
I dont remember exactly what my stuff is called, but its in a cartrige that you put in a grease gun for greasing fittings and axles, like $8 at Harbor Freight. One can has lasted me like 3yrs and 2 bikes

Bearing grease works fine. And in actuality, any kind of automotive grease is better than nothing...
You getting your bike back together, huh? We need to hook up sometime man. Was gonna head to Nebraska (Omaha) today but since it was supposed to rain (and is), I tore my bike apart. It's in a 100 pieces.
