To get the decal off my gas tank I think I used a knife but sandpaper might work, it was a tedious process. i think i scratched the tank a couple times also so i ended up sanding everything. Be prepared to spend all day sanding and scrapping, but you will get it.

The one's on the tank are cleared over, pita to get off, but they will come off.

The others are easy, but tedious. I used my gf's hair dryer and my fingernails. Takes awhile.

If you are re-painting, I would just sand them down, much easier and will take alot less time.

Heat gun or hair dryer (use you wife of girlfriends) to heat up the glue behind the decal the pull the decal off. To get the excess glue off use that honda polish aka "liquid gold" spray it on let it set for a minute or two then wipe off to a decal free bike..

Just use a blow dryer and peel/scrape off like everyone's said. Don't worry about any residue cuz the sanding will get rid of it anyways.

Sanding will not always get rid of the glue. A residue can be left in the plastic, meaning the plastic can absorb some of the solvents/petroliums in the glue. While it does remove the glue, the amount of pressure or how you sand the glue (like using a DA air sander), creates impressions in the surface of the plastic, commonly known in the body world as bullseyes. And, unless you feather out those "bullseyes" with different grits of sand paper, removing as much of the glue with a cleaner before you sand, creates less chance for imperfections in sanding, or the need for excess primer to even out or fill with something like spot putty or polyester putty, before you do your pre-paint prep. Just remember, a paint job looks only as good as the prep work. Painting is the easier part of the two. It's wet sanding and polishing that suck the most but produce the best curb appeal result.

There's my .02 cents.

Thanks for the info, I tried the the hair dryer and scrape method. It is taking foreverrrrrrr. But like Illushun said the paint job is only as good as the prep so i guess I am in for the long hail tonight and this weekend.
