Airtech streamlining, general quality & fitting of parts
Sorry if this is on the wrong place, but it`s the best I could come up with.
So, the bottom line is earlier today I found out that despite earlier promises I will most propably not be able to get myself a new car, therefore my initial plans of swapping my old car to some bigger bike went poof as well, so now it seems pretty heavily I`m "stuck" with my f2, so I figured I might aswell throw a few bills at it to make it more to my liking.
And now to the point, love the bike, hate the tail, however am reluctant to do anything to the original fairings so I already threw an email to Airtech about this tail piece:
and found out even with the shipping fees and taxes it`s not like stupid expensive and am heavily leaning towards the "order button"...
Now the question, I`m in the understanding these parts are of fairly good quality and material and would like to hear if anyone could give me insights about their quality and most importantly how well they fit. Also the material thickness and rigidity are things of interest I don`t want to ask from the maker in fear of a heavily bias answer. I know I have to drill the holes myself but do I also need to saw the place for the tail light and things such?

Just for info purposes: They are fiberglass fairings, not ABS plastic (like OEM). Fiberglass isn't a bad thing but won't be as durable or forgiving as ABS plastic. Prep, paint, & clearcoat & you should be good to go.
My experiences w/ their fairings & CS has been good. Like any aftermarket fairing, at times they'll need a little fitting/tweaking, but it shouldn't be a prob. As for the tail light cutout/etc, just ask them what they are doing in that regard these days. It used to be cut out but they may have other options now.

Yep, most of car tuning parts I've seen or bought have also been fiberglass, it's just that the quality of them vary very much. Two parts of similiar price can be like the other one just a light sanding and paint, the other one way too thin, warped and not coated at all... IMO fiberglass can even be better if something happens and I have to repair it, getting the border of FG resin and the original plastic to bond and fade can be next to impossible at least with my skills...
Propably am going to get the final info on the car thing in a month, if it's a no go I'm gonna start working on the bike. Some more upgrades prolly coming too like rim paint and better headlights. We'll see...
