you shouldn't use a K&N filter with a stock pipe... and some aftermarket slip-ons... they will make a point to say so like Erion does. In any event you need some mapping done wether you get a power commander or not. As for the stock air filter at 5k ... Just take it out and hit it with an air hose.. that will get you by until the K&N comes in.. after that you can recharge your K&N for life.

I'm still not 100% convinced that the K&N's flow that much more air than the stock filters -- the guy made a good point that the stock filters flow more air than the engine can use. I've used K&N's on two bikes and dyno results were disappointing to say the least. And these were used with jetting change and a PCII. Peak HP increased by only 2% -- low/mid-range was mostly unaffected. I did, however, save a ****load of $$ on filters because I kept the bikes for a long time.
