Hey man,
If you have the OEM shock for 12 years now...it just might be worn out. I had a 94 Katana, the shock was toast after 11 years...upgraded to a bandit 1200 shock.
Alot of people ship them out and get rebuilt for 100$ or so, see what fits your bike...you may end up being able to upgrade to a bigger model shock.

does it feel like the back tire is bouncing around when you go down the road? or is it just too soft?

When was the last time you changed your fork oil?

That stuff does get old.

adjust your pre-load higher. Your sag should be as close to 32mm as you can get it. then stiffen your dampening a little and see how that feels. If your pre-load is already maxed then you need new springs. it sucks because they can get expensive...but you will love how they feel. go to racetech.com and you can get a ton of info.

your SAG should only be 20 ~ 25mm at the rear 25 ~ 30mm Front
