Optima: Get a new helmet. BTW, if you want to replace your RF-1000 w/a RF-1000, they are on clearance many places due to the new RF-1100 being the new model. CycleGear, as many other sources still have the RF-1000 on clearance.

Goloth: Scorpion "same or better" than Arai/Shoei??? Simply NOT so. That being said, Scorpions are good helmets but not on the same tier/level as Arai & Shoei.

Um that honestly depends on what you're buying a helmet for. From a straight protective standpoint, 2 helmets that meet the same certification criteria are the same. The difference between the two beyond that point will be features and style.

If both helmets meet SNELL 2010 certification, for example, the manufacturer simply cannot prove their helmet will protect better than the other.

def buy a new helmet, but in a pinch a scratched helmet is better than no helmet.and by the way, there are the most killer lids out there for real good prices and they use the same materials that go into a high dollar one.peece
