noob crash - bar-end and helmet question
Hi,
I slipped on black ice going almost straight, and had a fall Considering we get snow only one day in a year in the middle of winter, this ice was very unexpected and unseen (
Only limiting damage on bike is grazed-through stator cover, so I cant ride the bike for a couple of days until I replace it.
Among other damage, My left bar-end broke off along with part of the bar (pictures). The previous owner had these put in, so I dont really know about them.
What do I need to replace? In fact the bar end itself is still in ok shape, but the bar itself seems to be damaged on the inside?
The grip on the bar is still on and stable.
My helmet visor got scraped, but I dont believe I really banged the helmet on the pavement. Should I replace just the visor? The helmet has minor scrapes around the visor.
Thanks!

RE: noob crash - bar-end and helmet question
Your helmet is now suspect. The "foam" on the inside of your helmets creates thousand of micro fractures upon impact. These fractures disperse the energy of the impact. If your impact caused fractures, then your helmet won't do what it is intended to do the next time your head hits the ground. The ****ty thing is you can't inspect the foam to see if it has been damaged. If you have the money, I would replace your helmet.
What you need to replace is the weight that goes in the clip on. I would order a new retaining clip also.

RE: noob crash - bar-end and helmet question
Someone was talking about getting the helmet x-rayed to check it out quickly, possibly at a discounted cost or for free. They seemed to think some hospitals do that for you. (This was at a helmet shop)
I'll probably get a new helmet after reading the insightful comments, but it'll be interesting to know esp for people with expensive helmets...
Regarding lifties' post: Retaining Clip? Can I ask for that by name?
Thanks for the comments!
