92 CBR600f2 won't start.
I'm new to this forum. And this is my first bike.
Here's the problem.
Got this CBR from a friend who was desperate for money.
He hasn't started it up in 1 1/2 years but despite that. He's cleaned the carbs and drained the gas.
I charge the battery. Put some fuel in and try to start it. It just won't start. Since i don't have a manual yet, it's on order.
I don't know which choke settings to use. Are there two chokes. One near the fuel petcock and one on the turn signal stalk?
It did make a loud pop noise (backfire maybe) once when i was trying to start it.
Let me know. Thanks everyone.

hey man welcome to the forum...
If it has been sitting, I would try new plugs. Also, there is only one choke, up on the left handlebar. the other on the left side under the fairing is the idle adjust. I bet you put plugs in it and it will fire right up!

hey man
make sure you reverse anything you did to the **** you thought was a choke on the lower part of the fairing. like the previous post said that is the idle speed adjust and could mess up you chances of getting the bike to start. i agree with the post about spark plugs, did the bike start and run fine before it was put away? how much money do you have to devote to the bike? i am a firm believer in mechanics, if you 100 bucks tell the local honda guys to work one getting it started but quit after they spend 100. they will prolly do that for you. i also have an F2 and i love it so your money will be well spent getting the thing running. try this...
1. make sure the gas is on at the petcock
2. full choke at the left hand grip
3. advance the the throttle a 3 times like you were revving the engine
4. then push use the starter and just barely open the throttle a little bit while starting
5. it the bike starts DO NOT rev the motor just let it slowly idle a bit
6. after about 10 secs on fulll choke start to slowly back off the choke
7. listen to see if the bike is running on all cyclinders.
8. if you can not tell by the sound hold some piece of soft plastic, like a Cool Whip container lid, on each of the exhaust headers to see if they are each hot. if the plastic melts a bit on each pipe then congrats you have a running bike.
i would also consider taking the bike to a shop and getting the carbs synchronized. this will improve power delivery and smooth the motor overall.
good luck and keep asking questions.

Thanks you two. Ok i got the bike started. Problem was. My friend before he stored it, put in the #2 plug wire into the #1 cylinder causing it to backfire and die.
I swaped the two wires and it ran. Put in new gas and it fired right up. I even took it for a ride around the block. Smooth.
