Default cbr600f2 right for me?

I am a nebie here, and after many years in the dirt I have suddenly taken an interest to the street. My question is I am currently looking at a 94 cbr600f2 for sale and was wondering if this would be a great bike for me to start on? I am quite experienced in the world of MX and understand that I am new to the street however I do not want to purchase a bike and become bored with it a short time later. ALso the one that I am looking at is $2800 does this sound right? any input is appreciated. THanks

an f2 is a great bike to start on and if there is not enough power for you you can cnange the sprockets out of it and change the charactistics of the acceleration and speed. you can also build upon the motor to make more power in the future with jet kits, exhausts and such. as far as 2800 goes that would depend on the condition of the bike and miles. ebay is a good place to compare prices. just look in the ebay motors section for other bike like that on and see what they are going for. hope that helps.

I think the f2 is a good first bike... or a Kawasaki ex500 or Ninja 250 if you really wanna take it easy.

The f2 is my 2nd bike after not riding for the past 14 yrs.

It's great and cost me $2500.

Put more in for new stator, rectifier, battery.

I personally think a 94 F2 would be a good starter bike. My first motorcycle was a 94 F2. It's as fast as you really need it to be (ie. you can keep up with your buddies on newer bikes, as long as you get pretty decent at riding) It's not going to have as much power as a newer bike, but plenty to get you through; plus it might help to keep you out of trouble. I thought my F2 was a great handling bike and comfortable to ride, all of which are good qualities of a starter bike. I doubt you'll get bored with it either, unless that's just in your personality, it will still get up and go. As far as $2800 goes, I'm pretty sure i got my bike for right around that price a year and a half ago. It had really low miles (something like 4xxx, nice rims, but a cracked upper fairing, just to help get a perspective) Hope some of that helps, and i say Go For It!!

Great advice!

I also love the way the f2 rolls in stop and go traffic...the bike is so perfectly balanced and nimble I almost never have to put my foot down.
