i currently have a 2002 900rr which is buring oil and has a lot of miles. i found a 2003 954rr engine and some other parts really cheap. does anyone know if it is possible to put a 2003 954 engine and some other partson the 2002 900rr frame? a lot of other parts interchange and they look exact but has anyone either done it or heard of it? thanks

 

First, it is 2002 929RR.

Yes a lot of the parts interchange, including the engine, however, I am not sure all of what is involved in swapping the two.

"I put a 954 engine in my 929 chasis last year also. Only two things I remember that weren't direct fit were the bank angle sensor and the throttle bodies. I rewired the harness to fit the bank angle sensor under the seat like it is in the 929, the 954 puts it up by the headlight. The throttle bodies on the 954 are 2mm bigger than the 929 so they don't mate perfectly w/ the air box. Good luck!"
