Default 88 cbr600 f wont start please help!!!!!

so about a month and a half ago it ran it had some issues starting and would sometimes die at stop signs if i didnt keep the rpms up. so i took off the tank and was messing around with the wiring as i was putting on a new headlight and changed the spark plugs. now once it was all plugged it it will not start it tries and seems like it is going to when i crank on it but wont quite get there. All of the wires are plugged back in but one that wasnt plugged in before either which it looks like goes the fuel pump. idk if that is the problem maybe accidently mixed up the spark plug wires or if there is something else i should do as i am very much a noob and really wanna get this thing going.

I'm pretty certain that the firing order for you bike is 1,2,4,3, so check to see if yours is correct. I assume your bike has carburettors? If so, drain and clean out the float bowls and as you take each one off, check that the amount of fuel in each bowl looks to be roughly the same. If one or two are a lot lower than the others you need to set the fuel levels so that they are all the same. Get yourself a Haynes manual for your machine and follow the relevant fuel, exhaust section on how to do this. Check the spark plugs for the correct gaps cleaning them with a brass wire brush first. When you take the plugs out, look at the tips to see if they are wet, this will verify that fuel is getting into the cylinders ok. If they are bone dry then you are not getting enough fuel supply. Check the fuel lines and filters etc for a good fuel flow. If you are getting a spark at each spark plug and a good fuel supply your bike should fire, providing the battery is turning the engine over fast enough. Check with a mulitmeter that the battery voltage rises to 13.5-14.0 volts as you rev the bike to over 3500rpm. This will verify that the alternator and rectifier are ok. Give the battery a good overnight charge and see if this helps. If you do get the bike running, set the idle speed a little higher (1300rpm) and see if this helps. I hope I've given you something to work on. Not sure where the wire you found goes to unless it goes somewhere on the fuel pump. Haynes manual should show all this, so is worth the money! Let's see if anyone else can help in the meantime!
