87 600 hurricane gas tank wont fit
hey guys! im completely new to bikes, but im a diesel tech so i have a little knowledge with working on stuff.
so i got an 87 beater hurricane yesterday. has dents in the tank, and he guy told me there is a way to pressurize the tank to get the dents out. so being a DIY type of person i figured why not and pumped air into it. well it expanded the bottom of the tank.
basic question, should i just buy a new tank? can i just bent it back to make it fit or will the coating inside probably be damaged? i got the bike for 350 bucks so i dont mind buying a tank if i need to. kind of a dumbass move, i should have checked youtube for a tutorial or something.
thanks!

ya, i'd just buy a new tank. you *could* fix it - but once you fix that, you'll still have to fix the dents. and the ONLY way those dents would blow out from pressure first (before the bottom again) is if you added heat from a torch - therefore you'd have to bodywork and paint the tank afterwards.
plus that's an easy way to blow yourself up (fuel vapor, and then vapors from your butane or acetylene being inside of a tank that you're adding pressure to).
it'd be a lot easier, safer, quicker, and probably just as cost-effective to buy a second-hand tank. check ebay
