600rr battery woes
love when a battery dies on a FI bike 20 miles from home in the middle of the night...no truck... no towing company around
used a battery for a regular 600 from walmart.....height wasnt the exact same but it did fire up and get it out of the abandoned parking lot..
battery it calls for is 160 bucks...
used a 60 dollar ES9BS battery from walmart...
cannot find a CCA rating on it... (190 on stock)
the ES9BS is a bit taller....but it did seem to run the bike just fine... wondering if anyone else got away with using this battery? i just dont want to tear up the stator/rectifier by running a battery that isnt the correct one..

negative. tried to do it over a dozen times....it would start up then immediately die. fuel injected bike. just far too much to try to power up without a battery...plus up until 4-5 k rpm the bike is running off the battery anyways so... even if i did somehow make the impossible happen...the second i hit a stop light... it'd cut off.

In your situation, you did what you had to, to get your bike home. I'd take that walmart battery back after getting a better one.
You typically get what you pay for when it comes to motorcycle batteries.
That being said, I use Yuasa. http://www.yuasabatteries.com/

yeah....i mean it was in a dark parking lot...not the best part of town... bikes are stolen constantly around there... was 11 when it broke down....3 am before i found a walmart with the *close enough* battery.... had no money on me....had to get a ride...borrow money.. then keep in mind those batteries come with little bottles of electrolyte solution... NON charged... so i had to half assed charge it off the car with jumper cables for a minute or two....was an awful ordeal. im surprised it worked and fired ....then made it home like nothin ever happened.
that being said...im not sure walmart will even take that type of battery back... just because its a sealed battery when you buy it and you have to peel off the strip to pour the solution into the 6 cells... threw the bottles away... might just get a replacement and charge it properly...keep it as a spare if they wont give me a refund.. either way...the bike fired right up and ran perfect the whole way home... i was amazed it worked at all from having to put that heavy shallow charge on it from the car.. i dont ever recommend anyone doing that... i mean EVER... that bitch could have exploded in an instant.. i had my helmet on, jacket on, gloves and still ducked behind the hood. (charged it on the ground...not in the bike)

Yeah, they'll take it back. Don't sweat it. If they ask for a reason...well, give 'em one. ;-)
Additionally, if you don't have access to Yuasa batteries in your area, I can recommend Interstate Batteries as a good substitute (they have road-service too). http://www.interstatebatteries.com/cs_estore/ I used an Interstate Battery for awhile b/c I needed a battery & the local shop was out of Yuasas. The Interstate performed very well.

bike has ran like a champ with that battery all day....so itll definately work in a pinch to get you by....55 bucks at walmart... not a gel cell ...also a 1/2 inch taller but itll fit and work.. i almost want to keep it just for the easy exchange and immediate availability in case anything like that happens again.
two thumbs up walmart. saved the day...when i found one that actually had it. (kmart has em too..) worth it to not have to get a tow. maybe this will help someone in the future....unless your bike is carbed....then you can just push start that bitch lol.
