Default BATTERY WOES.. Help!!!

hola good people.

last weekend my battery almost exploded after a day of riding.. it was a sealed battery and you could hear **** trying to escape out of it, and could smell acid a mile away. thank (insert idol of choice here) that it did not explode. (the battery was in the bike when i bought it a year ago, i have no idea how old it was)

i bought a new battery, another sealed type was all they had. and i rode home from work today, about 75 or higher in temperature today, and pretty heavy traffic, i get home, the bike sits for about an hour.. i go out take the seat off and the battery is still VERY hot to the touch.

I am wondering if the battery is being over charged causing it to heat up like that or is it possibly normal? the plastic strip that covers the holes was lifted up in some spots as well, i pushed them back down in place.. I did not smell any acid or anything.

What would cause the battery to overcharge if that is what is happening? would it be the stator? or possibly the VR? the VR was not hot when i touched it. I don't have any tools to test the battery voltage.

any ideas, thoughts and or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Maybe just take it to a Honda mechanic... they can run a complete checkup on everything...rectifier, etc.

My 92 F2 did the same exact thing. In my case the Voltage Regulator was bad. Picked up a new on for $89.00 after doing much
shopping around. To save you some time, this is where I got my part.......http://www.i-bike.com/store/rectifiers.cfm
You should find a way to test your charging system though, so you can be sure your VR is actually the culprit.
