Default 600f1 fuel pump/carbs EXPLODING

so i got this f1 hurricane. heres the story.
it ran great for the previous owner until it started bogging or something like it wasnt getting fuel.
he replaced SOMETHING, the wires coming out of the pump are spliced, so i think he replaced the relay? and then it didnt start for him and he sold it to me.

so correct me please if im a dumbass but i tried to bypass the fuel pump and connect the tank directly to the carbs. and try and start it.
the 3rd carb from the left flooded and started leaking gas everywhere.

if anyone has any sort of diagnosis please help me out.

is it only meant to work with the fuel pump? or are do my carbs need to be rebuilt or something?

How long has it been since it has ran ? If it's sit for a long period of time, then you could have a stuck float. That would cause it to flood like that.

thanks for the reply. yes its been probably 2 or 3 years since its ran.
how do i go about unsticking the float? would i have to take the carbs off?

sorry for the noob questions guys

yea you might have to take the carb off but what i would try first is dumping some seafoam in the tank and let it sit over night it will help get gunk out of the tank and the carbs.

If it's been that long, then surely the fuel that was in there had evaporated out. It leaves behind a varnish coating inside the carburetors. If you want your bike to run reliably and perform properly, then you're going to need to remove and rebuild the carburetors. There is a good chance many of the really tiny holes have been varnished over, plugging them. Take a look in the F1 and F2 sections of the forum. There are some great guides to taking the carbs off the bike and cleaning them.
