Default Carbs rebuilt. Fuel Pump replaced. NO start

Any ideas on what to try next?

I rebuilt the carbs.

I replaced the fuel pump -- mine was dead.

I checked if there is spark on the spark plugs...removed one spark plug, removed the boot, connected the spark plug and cranked it with the spark against the frame of the motorcycle.

I saw spark...very little. weak almost. what is the ideal amount i'm supposed to see when I do this type of test?

I'm ready to give up and take the bike in for repairs...any ideas?

is your pump pumping fuel?
since you rebuilt the carbs, they are probably dry, takes alot of cranking to fill the bowls.
i would try filling the carbs with fuel, i have a handy squeeze bottle that fits into the fuel line.
also, i recomend using a car battery and jumper cables to crank it until you get it running. if you leave the battery in the car, just make sure the car IS NOT running. do this because the ignition system starts getting funky when voltage drops below 12v.
you're looking for blue spark, that means its good.

+1 on the car battery.

Does it fire at all?

Fuel Pump is firing. I jumped the relay and it works strong.

Carbs have fuel. Removed them again, released fuel from the float bowls so thats ok.

I youtubed what a spark plug should look like when sparking : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11ifKc805gk mine doesn't look that strong or make that buzzing sound.

I'm going to try a car battery and if that doesn't work should I get into checking the pulse generator ? if so, what do i look for?

even the first plug in that video has really strong spark. its blue yes, but i've never seen it that fat from a motorcycle ignition. it will only fire for an instant. it will look nothing like the second plug tested.
have you checked each individual spark plug wire to make sure they are all firing?
the pulse generators send a signal to the coil, to fire the plugs. since you have spark, i would think the pulse gens are fine. if the spark is still weak, i'd test the resistance inside the coils. download the manual from cbrextreme.com to get the troublshooting guide and values.
i'm assuming this bike ran before the fuel pump went out?
it sounds more to me like a fuel problem, since that is what you have changed.
make sure the throttle butterflys are adjusted properly as described in the manual. they need to all be in the same position as one another. also try spraying a little fuel, or starting fluid into bores.

I have spark and fuel.

I connected it to my car battery...it wants to start, it stayed on for 5 seconds.

I need to check the throttle cables. don't think I'm getting much response from the throttle. but MAJOR progress.

(and yes the bike is right outside, i had to run in here onto the forum to update you all so you don't spend more time helping me diagnose a wrong issue)

So she started but wont respond to the throttle correctly.

Its as if the coils or pulse generator doesn't pulse. Then randomly the bike will rev up to 3K by itself and then drop back down to idle and sometimes shut off. I can't get it to go above 3.5-4K.

Turns on right away now. No hesitation. but I got this problem.

Ideas?

got the wires to the coils in the right order and the plug cables on the right plugs?

If so I'd try testing the plug cables, then coils then pulse generator.

i would go back over the carbs, its not an ignition problem.
did you completly disassemble the carbs?
sounds like a sycronization, vacume leak, or something wrong with the chokes.
do you have the entire airbox attached now?
look at the rubber boots connecting the carbs to the head, make sure they aren't cracked or damaged. make sure the vacume diaphrams for the slides aren't damaged, and the slides move freely.
make sure the pilot jet screws for each carb are set the same. make sure the throttle plates are adjusted per the manual.
