Default 600 rr chain adjustment question

Bike is an '08 600rr. Owner's manual sez to adjust chain to specified free play with bike parked on side stand. A pain in the A$$. I installed spools on the rear swingarm to accomodate a rear paddock stand. With the bike on the paddock stand, would there be enough compression on the rear suspension to do an accurate chain adjustment? Or would the end result be different once the bike was back on the ground? How do you folks do it?

The bike is still being supported by the suspension when it's on the paddock stand. I've never had any issues that I'm aware of by adjusting it while on the stand as opposed to on the side stand. If there is a difference, it can't be much.

There will be some difference but not a lot ... having said that you never want it to be to tight. What I always did was adjust the chain to the proper spec on the sidestand and then put it on the swingarm stand and see what the play is. Write it down in the manual and yer golden for the next 100 times

Thanks guys. I'll try it on the ground and then compare on the stand, just to see what the diff really is. It's just so much easier to do any kind of chain service on the stand, ya know?
