Default 5Th Gear Neutral

So I'm rolling along, doing decent rpms and speed. Then my 5th grear just goes neutral and to top it off, the neutral indicator light doesn't come on. So I'm sitting there revving the engine thinking it's in gear... immediately I switch down a gear to 4Th then back up to 5th and it works fun. Any ideas about why 5th gear just goes neutral while riding?

sometimes you can hit a "false neutral" inbetween two gears... sounds like its time to get that clutch serviced...

speaking of the clutch, sometimes it feels like the clutch cable is getting stuck and I feel a little bit of binding/grinding in the level as I pull it. Does that mean the clutch cable needs to be replaced or just oiled? If oiled how much does one of those run?

You need to adjust the shift linkage down some. It sounds like your shifter is too high up. That's my 2 cents on it .
