2nd gear issues
Hello guys, I am a newbie here to the CBR forum....
Ok, I ride a 00 F4. When I got it last april, I noticed that it was extremely horrible about miss-shifting from 1st to 2nd, eventually it started kicking the shiftdrum into neutral. So I tore it down and the shift point for 2nd gear on the drum was worn down (judging by the witness marks where the shift point was approx .050") so I installed a new shift drum and forks along with countershaft 2nd and countershaft 6th. Still noticed an occasional miss-shift, but wasn't too concerned until it started jumping out of 2nd again. That is when I found the Factory Pro Tuning shift kit, comes with a new shift star, fulcrum, and fulcrum spring. But that still leaves me with replacing my gears, forks and drum again... My question to you guys is this.... Is there an updated shiftdrum for the F4 transmissions that engages sixth gear counter FULLY into the 2nd gear counter? By my measurements, with the shift drum in the 2nd gear position, it still lacks .060" from full 'cog' engagement. It doesn't sound like much to me, but evidently it makes a fair bit of difference from a transmission that will take punishment and one that wont.
Thanx guys, any info would be greatly appreciated!
