Greetings from Canada. Hoping someone has seen this and can provide some input. I have the 2011 CBR1000 REPSOL ABS. Bought it used a few months ago as it’s always been my dream bike. I used to ride the 600, 929, the 1000 then took a break with little kids.
My mechanic friend and I (and this guy is ridiculously good. He basically builds bikes), replaced the OEM rearsets with some ARASHI ones. The pin into the master diameter was too small and a little too short, but after confirmation from them the fitment was good we proceeded. First ride after that, rear brakes basically melted. By the time the ABS light was on, they were already smoking.
The way we figure, something happened with the fitment causing the pads not to fully release, which caused this. Riding I certainly didn’t feel like the back brake was engaged, but as well all know these bikes are very powerful. So, either it was something with the new rearset, or something else and its an amazing coincidence.
anyone have any thoughts? We have replaced the rearsets to the OEM, and I have new brake parts (including the Cylinder) on their way. Massive cost however and definitely do not want this to happen again. Anyone see this type of incident before?
