Exclamation 2005 CBR1000RR Rebuild Issues

Hello All,

Having a decent amount of problem on a 2005 CBR1000RR rebuild that I've somehow managed to get neck deep in. TLDR: Bought the bike and a spare from a buddy. Clean frame had a blown motor, bad frame had a good motor. After getting the bike, picked up the motor from a shop that did a "topical" rebuild of the good motor. New seals, checked valve clearances, compression checked, timing checked, all that good stuff. No new rings or any piston work.

Bad frame was an 06, not sure if that's relevant.

Main problem currently is an inability to rev past 5K and a horrific stutter on throttle blip. 5k rev limit is a hard cut. Additionally I have problems cold starting without a jump. Battery reads 12.4 ish key off, and is brand new. Even with a jump it is ridiculously hard to start. I've not finished enough of the build to get it on the street, so I have no idea how it performs under load. After doing some research and testing, Fuel Pressure looked to be the issue. Replaced stock regulator and pump with Quantum units. FP reads 45-50 psi and is stable at 50 when running. No drop when revving. Idle sounds slightly choppy but otherwise fine. Yay! Fuel Pressure good. Test port is at the far side of the upper rail, so everything should be good up to that point.

Next I looked at injectors, and got a cheap cleaning rig together. Patterns on upper and lower injectors looked pretty good, and they all open/shut when needed. Clicking nice and loud and verified they aren't leaky. Again yay!

Bike has a full Akrapovic exhaust, but is otherwise stock.

My question is multi-fold (assuming when I get everything back together the problem persists:

1) Does the MAP sensor come into play for injection, like it would on a car running speed-density fueling? If so, how can I test the unit? I have two, but I'd rather test to be certain.

2) I also have two ECUs, have tried running both, problem persists with both. Does anyone know how to ID an 05 unit vs an 06 unit, and how could I test for ECU failure?

3) Assuming both those units test OK, what would be a logical next step?

4) Can someone elaborate on the actual difference between upper and lower injectors? I have 16 total injectors (8 from each bike) but each set has several different ID numbers. Not the full part number, but on the opposing side there is a 2 or 3 digit code, and I have a ton of different options. Additional, some have a stamped letter in the upper corner. Photos are provided below. In theory, if it's only a small flow difference like I've read, I should still be able to rev above the 5K limit, maybe just running a little leaner than it should be.

5) Is it normal for FP to drop if primed and not started? I let the bike sit and FP dropped from 45 ish to around 20 ish over a couple days (maybe three or four days).

6) Is there anything in the spark system that could cause a cut like this? It doesn't really do a snap crackle pop like it would on spark cut, but I can't rule anything out.

7) Finally, am I overlooking something stupid/small here, fuses, relays, etc.?

I'm really stoked to get this bike on the road, having come from the Kawasakis I'm excited to see what's different with the Honda. Seems like it'll be much sharper handling than my ZX10R, and size wise is closer to my 636, which I like a lot. This is the last headache to deal with before I can do some road testing with it and I'd like to have it fully sorted for the next season, but seeing as I have tried dealing with this on my own through searches and the manual for a few months now, it seems appropriate to try to reach out to the community. I like to think of myself as competent with mechanics, so no need to dumb down any answers, if I need clarification I'll for sure ask!

Thank you all in advance, hoping someone on here has answers to at least a couple of my questions. If there's any additional info I can provide I'd be happy to, anything to get this thing sorted out, and if I think of something I didn't mention I will update accordingly.

Thanks again, please help!
