2000 CBR F4 overheat
My first post here guys, have a black 2000 CBR f4 600
Need some help,
My bike was seating for about 6 months because of mechanical issues and other responsibilities I had to take care of.... I'm happy to say, i'm now able to work on it.
I had to buy new battery because it was dead, also replaced chain n sprockets, along with front and rear brakes. I did all the work with my bro n law.
It was nice to finally ride again, but on our first ride out, the bike started to overheat. So back to the garage we went.
The fan turns on but bike does over heat pretty quickly, Checked antifreeze level and it's good. Decided to remove the thermostat and check by placing it in boiling water to see if it was opening and it does. I did notice a couple things while having bike apart. Looks like a rat had gotten to bike while it was parked and chewed though the wire that comes out of the sensor attached to the thermostat. (I'll attach a pic) the rat also got to O2 sensor wire and chewed through that as well. I'll have to fix those.
Now I don't think they are reason bike overheats quick. I'm thinking of checking water pump next, what do you guys think? Also, how do I check if water pump is bad once I pull it out?
Hope to hear back from someone soon on this.
Thanks Alex

Overheat
Apart from electrical issues If in fact overheats the only thing you can expect from a water pump failure besides visible leak is a corroded impeller(otherwise broken shaft wich seems a bit impossible). To check that the impeller is ok (with cold engine) remove the right air duct, remove the hose right below the radiator cap (the small hose that comes from the engine) start the engine and check if coolant comes out of it while idling. If it does, water pump is ok, reattach the hose top up the circuit via radiator cap and bleed the circuit(I let it run till fan kicks 2 or 3 times, let it cool down and check expansion reservoir level). Hope it helps and is still in time.
