just purchased a 90 600 hurricane, the cluster does not however come with a fuel guage so im stuck using the odometer between fills atm. Will and aftermarket fuel guage for a 90's cbr work or am i kinda SOL? Also my idle is running a bit low around 1000, but im having trouble locating the correct place to adjust it seeing as the previous owner didnt have any manuals. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated

 

i have an 89 hurricane. I don't know about the fuel gauge, i usually try to keep the odo below 140ish just in case. as for the idle control, you can do it at a stop light if you have to (its that easy). on the left side of the bike just below the carbs there should be a small black **** (it doesn't stick out or anything, about the size of a dime) turn it to the right to increase your idle speed.

 

I thought the idle was suposed to be set at 1000.

 

well i ran a can of seafoam throught the system and it seemed to clear up the idle issue, my bike is just REEEAAAALLLYYYY cold blooded. As for the meter i went down to the local parts store and they told me my odometer is my fuel guage on that bike lol so that answers that question. Thank you for all the info about adjusting the idle and such i really appreciate it! most bikes are around 1300 for Idle cali is about 100 rpms more

 

i would recommend making sure your bike idles well above 1000 rpms in the 1300~ range.
during the winter, i usually up the idle a few hundred to about 1500.

warm, it will climb a few more, however these bikes will run fine below 2k.

 

I have mine at 1400 now but Im pretty sure my bike isn't a CA bike, Can't find the emissions crap.

 

ya i upped mine to around 1300 now and its running like a beast
