Fuel problem? 1990 cbr 600f
I think I might like this place.
So here is my prob. I have had all kind of problems because mice got in my bike last winter. Not knowing I ran it. So, after replacing all kinds of stuff and pulling the engine to lap valves I still have a problem. The bike runs fine if I ease ino the gas but if I hit the gas quick it boggs out and dies unless I let off the throtle.
So far I have laped valves, Replaced carbs (used), replaced coils. Any help would be great. Could it be the fuel pump?
Thanks

ya that would be the next thing i would try is a fuel pump. have u replaced the spark plugs recently if not try that 2, but i imagine it is fuel related. u sure everything is openin up good in the carbs when u hit the throttle hard or it could be floodin it self out just never know with carbs.

I am no expert but there is a vacuum line on the 90 that goes from the base of the intake on the right inner carb, and goes to that vacuum valve thing(nome in the manual) that i believe feeds the vacuum diaphrams for the carbs, had a similar problem and the hose had popped off. Just thought i would throw that out there, never know, it's small, maybe a mouse ate it! little bastards!
good luck

1990, whats that a hurricane or f2? if its a f2 i know for sure you dont have a fuel pump. clifford is right, there is a vaccum line that runs into the petcock. so long as youre trying everything you can take the petcock apart and make sure that seal inside is working properly, though your problem sounds slightly different than what i had. good luck!

First check the ignition timing with an old timing light. And just because you replaced the carbs with used carbs doesn't mean that they are clean inside. I bought a set of carbs for my 1000F off ebay because they were $15 which is way cheaper than any single part if I need one. The seller said the carbs were clean. The float chambers were clean, but I could lift each diaphram/piston with my finger and they were all sticky, hard to lift, and two stuck at the top position when I let go. Some of the air bleeds were clogged too. So clean ain't clean until I clean it. If those pistons don't slide easy, the carb won't work right.
