sounds like you might have 1 or both legs bent, and when you compressed them rolling onto the curb, the bent section is now bound up in the fork slider bushings.

Those should be coil spring forks, and unless both springs have failed, which is unlikely, thenthere's a lot of potential energy stored as it sits - be careful working on them.

Try undoing the fork cap nuts on the top of each fork leg SLOWLY AND NOT ALL THE WAY and see if by releasing the tension on the fork lowers this helps. Be very careful not to unscrew the nuts too far. There won't be a problem if you do, but the nuts will 'let go' quite quickly due to spring pressure and you have to be ready for the sudden release. You may have to take the forks out of the yokes and strip them down if this doesn't help. I saw a great video on the internet a few weeks ago on how to do this job and I think someone posted it on the forum. Do a search to see if you can find it.

I would get the front end off the ground and smack the tire with a hammer to try and get it to release. Then strip the forks down and identify the problem. For me the first priority is getting those forks to release.
