Default 12 volt connection suggestions?

Is there a de facto standard way that most of you guys are hooking up 12v connections up to your CBR's? I want the connections to reside up near the handlebars. Right to the battery with an inline off switch? Going into the fuse box? I've never done anything like this on a bike and when I did it back in the day to my cars, it was most likely not the correct way. Thanks!

I had a little fun with the 12v system and mounted a sub in my trunk and speakers in my tank bag which wire into stereo, sub, and tweeters I have mounted on the bike. The tank bag system plugs into connectors I have mounted on one of the top side cowls, so I can slap my tank bag on and plug it in. However I have removed this system as it was just a test to see if I could do it, and you can. That was twenty-five years ago though, nowadays I just use the Bluetooth with my phone and listen to Pandora stations with a wireless speaker in my helmet, much easier!
