Default 08 CBR125 wont start

Was driving the bike on the highway and lost power.

brought the bike home and tested compression, checked for fuel/spark, checked timing and valve clearances.

compression was 125, took awhile to get up there. Is this normal?

Tried a shot of starter fluid and didn’t help.

what else should I look for?

heres a video of it partially running off the starter

Hi Pupers, welcome,

Please take a moment and pop over to the new member area to introduce yourself to the forum.
Where are you from, how long have you been on two wheels, what bikes do you have etc.
We also love pictures.

If all the other checks were ok, do you have an air leak somewhere? Compression of 125 should be OK.

Cheers

Man, shavings in the crankcase... that's never a good sign. Been putting her though her paces? How many miles/km's on her? Are you the original owner, or history unknown?

I bought the bike for $100 with the previous owner stating it was seized, it had 26,000km on it, looked poorly taken care of.
i kinda expected it needing a motor, but for $100 with a clean title/good frame and tires I thought it was a good deal.

I took the cylinder apart and inspected the piston, was in OK shape, but there was a ton of rod play on the crank bearing, and the rod was discolored from heat.

I did source out a motor for a good deal thankfully if it follows through.

Fingers crossed on the new motor being good, will have been a bargain if it is.
