So i bought a 08 CBR 600RR on saturday. 12k miles, bike appears to be in fairly good condition. The story is the guy i bought it from drove the bike to the gas station we met at to make the sale in public. Bike was running amazing, turned it on and off multiple times during the sale. Continued to ride the bike home, it was a 3 hour ride. Stopped on way home and bike turned right back on no problem.

The problem began when i got home, turned the bike off, and from there on out it wont start. When i turn the key everything starts up fine, but the fuel pump does not audibly prime. The bike also turns over fine it just seems it is not getting fuel. The bike never got over 200 degrees on the ride, has 3/4 tank of gas as it sits, battery is holding a good charge. Have tried turning it on in 1st gear with clutch in.

PLEASE HELP, ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED NOT TRYING TO BRING IT IN TO BE FIX. ( Although i will be bringing it in for a full inspection since its new, trying to atleast get it running by myself. THANKS!

 

Hi ,first of all are you getting any fault codes, was it new petrol you put in or the remains of what was in the tank

 

Not getting any fault codes, but there was a half a tank of gas that sat for about 2 months, second half was filled about a month ago.

 

Hi ,would suggest having a look at the Fuel pump, could be that anything in the tank might have settled and blocked the filter, check all connections to the pump and if possible run a direct feed to the pump to see if it will run , do you have the Workshop manual?

 

I dont have a workshop manuel.
