06 f4i headlight issue
a couple weeks ago both my head lights just stopped working. All my other lights work well. the bike starts right up. fuse checked good. light bulbs didnt seem to be burnt out, but who knows. guy at the parts dealer said its to fishy for since both went out at the same time. anyone got any hints?
Don't overlook the bulbs being blown. A overcharging charging system can blow them both at the same time. Try a different bulb and check for power there at the connector.
If that doesn't do it, start looking at all of the connectors in the circuit. There is one that connects the front and main harness that has been known to have issues.
Also, look at the start button. If it gets stuck in just a little, your lights won't work.

Easy check for a sticky start button. With ignition off, push in start button and let it snap back several times. Start your bike and see if you've got lights. If you've got lights, a shot of aerosol lubricant of your choice into the switch should take care of your problem. A sticky switch lever doesn't return fully to engage the light circuit contacts.
Does your passing light work?
If so, I had this problem myself and after going through the wiring trying to trace the issue, I found a contact inside the starter switch housing that had its solder broken off. Couldn't see it at first, I had to poke it to see it was off. After soldering it back on, everything works perfect.
It's the Red wire in the following picture (not mine, so ignore the "broken" arrows):

Hope this helps to solve your issue.
