02 F4i fuel injection issues :(
Hi I am a new member
I currently have a 2002 cbr f4i that acts as if it is running lean and will bog then it will "pick up" and run rich blowing out black smoke. I have found a things that may be a cause. 1 someone has hacked into the wiring harness for custom lights
2 the gas tank is surverly rusted. My theroy on the tank is the rust is preventing proper gas flow and the computer compensates by pumping more fuel...
Any help or suggestion much appreciated!

Do a search on the FPR (fuel pressure regulator).
If I recall, you can verify a bad FPR by disconnecting the vaccum line the leads to it, if there is gas present in the vaccum line, then there is an internal leak.

If you got rust in the tank YOU MUST CLEAN IT OUT. Thats proly your problem. If not it is still a problem non the less. I was watching "automotive" programming on Spike TV and saw a wonderful product that you use to completely coat and seal the inside of a gas tank. I would suggest getting some of that sh*t and use it once you clean it out. But you should also check the FPR too (like Liem said) When these things sit for too long, they seize up.
Any updates on your status??
It helps when fellow members are experiencing the same symptoms with a solution present within the thread. I know I've had my share of problems and after doing a couple of searches with similar symptoms, I was able to diagnose appropriately.
