I know my reasoning is s*** but....
when riding with my girlfriend... only helmet - t shirt & shorts
when riding with my friends - helmet leather trousers / jacket gloves - at times it gets really dangerous with them but damn it... they are the only riding buddies ive got!

Usually if you low side, as this being a common crash, your feet will get caught under the bike and slide on the pavement. if you wear tennis shoes or anything "low top", you can kiss goodbye your ankle bone. Wearing work boots or racing boots will protect your ankle (hopefully) a little better

screw that i would rather low side then high side personally. Id rather be let down and slide/roll then get thrown over the bike and land who knows where and slide/roll some more
