Default yoshi exhaust

hey guys, i ordered a yoshimura rs3 exhaunt and when i went to put the rs3 on i noticed a metal ring still on the pipe going to the bike. The rs3 doesnt slip over that ring, and it looks like the ring is on there pretty good. Do i need to find a way to take that ring off or am i doing something wrong, thanks in advance.
