What to do, powdercoated rims?
Z you are very dedicated to your ride brother, I wouldn't look at it as competition. I need to get some pics up of my bike, but I am to embarresed since its still got the stock pipe on it lol... I got some carbon fiber goodies comein, and I can't wait ! Heel guards, front fender, ram air ducts, and a Yosh TRS gonna be baaaaaad. Sorry bout the thead jack Tim !!
lol agreed... BA
and +1 sorry for the jack... i is done
I assume that the rims on my F4 were powdercoated by a PO... they arent painted and I have never found another with wheel colors OEM other than black...
They are gray to match the bike... I put red rim stripes to tie in the wings..

I dunno man I am a sucker for black. I figured they already were thats why I didn't suggest it. I think the black rims breaks up the other colors, and blends well with the other black parts.
I'm going to pick my wheels up tomorrow, had them done in dupont sun gold. should look pretty cool. I'll get some pics when I get them.
You're not supposed to have aluminum sand blasted, it leads to pitting and a lot of powder coaters frown on it because sand will lodge in tiny pores created from blasting and could eventually flake off. Mine were in a chemical removal tank for the past 3 weeks. Previous powder coating is very hard to get off.
As for removing everything. My honda dealer took my tires off for 7 dollars each. Really not expensive. As for the bearings you can pop the dust seal out with a flat screw driver and not even scratch it. The bearings you can get out easily with a drift and a hammer, tap the back side of the opposite bearing at an angle a few times and the inner axle sleeve is loose enough inside the wheel that you can get the bearings out with a few whacks. it doesn't damage the bearing either. After that take a razer blade and slice off the valve stem and pry off the balance weights. It's really not that bad. Said and done it cost me $100 for powder coating and 40 for the chemical bath.
