Default Vortex Frame Slider shorty or long?

Hi there:
Lost my left side frame slider yesterday on the highway. Yeah, it just flew off!!! I think what happened was after my fall about a month ago, i was too busy fixing the bents and cracks, i neglected the ONE part that took majority of the beating.
Anyway, I did my research on this side, seems Vortex is one of the favorite. Thinking about grabbing a set too. I know the puck comes in shorty and long version.
Standard: 2.125 inches
Shorty: 1.375 inches
And i know that shorter ones are better at preventing bike from flipping. I mainly use it for commute and on occasions, some weekend pleasure riding in the mountains. Just want some opinion as to which one i should get.
The one that i have right now was installed by previous owner, seems like no brand single piece. The length on that is 3 inches. And the bike did flip on me when i fell. Perhaps i should go for a shorty? But, the long one do offer more fairing protection.

What do you think?

Im personally a fan of the short ones. I feel that they look better and my thinking is in the event i lay my bike down id rather it slide sustain a little more fairing damage than flip if the short sliders can help prevent it. The fairings will be damaged no matter what most likely so a little more or a little less protection might not make a huge difference. BUT if it only slides itll just be one side getting messed up hopefully instead of flipping which increases the risk of breaking and bending more stuff and damages both sides of the bike. Just how i see things.

That's a pretty good take on it Nick.

I prefer the look of the shorty's 100 fold for what that's worth.

Whatever the standard length is, they work fine. I've lowsided on both sides with standard length sliders, and they did their job.
