Very Weird Problem
Don't know exactly what happened, but i was in the middle of a bridge and all of a sudden my bike wouldn't throttle/accelerate anymore no matter how hard i pulled back the throttle. The speedometer also went to 0 mph even though i was slowly moving to a stop from 70 mph on the freeway. And there i was stalled in the middle of a bridge with heavy traffic and no turn emergency lanes due to construction. But anyways i went down to first and still couldnt move. Turned it off and restarted and was able to ride to my destination. What the heck would cause this? 02 F4i 7200 miles.

RE: Very Weird Problem
I was once in a scenario like that...however it was a little different. In my instance the speedo went to Zero and my RPMS went haywire. My problem was that my connection to the battery wasn't properly secured so it wiggled loose. I would look at your battery connections to see if they are tight if they are, maybe you should test the battery (to see if it's going bad).
From there, I may try to follow the wires to the instrument cluster (to see if I see any wires that may look to be exposed/frayed/warn..)
Maybe before I did that, I would check the fuses and connections of wires to any terminals that may appear be loose when they should be connected.
However I am no bike expert...just trying to think simple

I agree with what everybody is saying - it sounds like an electrical gremlin which can be tricky to find and sometimes impossible. If you can't find it initially, keep a multi-meter with you (they are like $20 and should fit under your seat) - if the problem happens again start testing out your connections with the multi-meter.
I always have a multi-meter in my truck and going on long rides throw one in my backpack... it's an excellent tool for problems like this

RE: Very Weird Problem
Here is my two cents. It could have been a drop in oil pressure, If that happens I believe the F4i's have a safety switch that will kill the ECU witch will kill all signal to the cluster but it will still be powered up, also it will kill the engine. maybe a fuel problem it might shutdown the ECU for that, But to me it sounds like your ECU had to be reset. I would check oil, and go for a ride around town see if it does it again. also do you have mods, mainyl Powercommander or something that is inline with the ECU wiring harness.
