Great job Jared,

Love the idea of the magnetic strip for holding the bolts. I'll be borrowing that one

Best of luck with the rest of the rebuild.

Cheers, SB

"Once again..... squeeaaaakkky clean inside, always makes me happy to see. Regular oil changes FTW!"

The insides do look clean! The question is: 1. What oil are you running? 2. Time interval on oil changes? TIA

Been using Rotella T6 for the past 50k or so, before that the 5qt jug of Mobil 1 10w-40 and 15w-50 before that since 5000 miles.... changed religiously every 5000 miles

Thanks guys . Still don't have it back together just yet, but just cuz I'm waiting on a few gaskets and o-rings that I had forgot to order beforehand (or didn't know I'd need). Had to get a valve cover gasket (was still original.... found leaking just a little bit), o-rings for the oil pick-up and pressure relief valve, and the o-rings that go around the spark plug holes on the bottom side of the camshaft hold down plate. Hopefully they'll be in early this week and I can get it all back together. Other than that everything else is done... trans is fixed and cases back together, valve adjustment done, just waiting on the gaskets and I'll be set

Anyways, a few more pics....

Original clutch still measures well in spec (2.4mm)

Top end like brand new.... literally looks like zero wear on the cam lobes, journals, thrust bearing, etc

Jared, it looks like you're really having a great time with the bike. I'm curious if you're tempted to replace any other parts while you've got it apart, like clutch or other things ?

You and your bike are one of the reasons I bought an F4i. Seeing this makes me even happier about my purchase lol. Just wondering, have you dynoed the bike or anything? I'm curious as to how much power it would be making after 250k miles.

Hell yeah that's alot of miles. If you don't have a thread already about how you maintaine your bike you should make one, I'm sure you got alot of good info. One question I have is how often do you check if your valves need adjusted or how often do you adjust them? I was told don't even check them until like 30k miles. My bike has 17k miles, 14k when I got it. Havn't ever checked the valves and not sure when to check them. Just put mobil 1 10w-40 in it too
